"I don't know what it is like to not have deep emotions. Even when I feel nothing, I feel it completely" - Sylvia Plath

The big sad. The blues. Meloncholia. Whatever phrasing you might use to describe it, depression can be experienced in a few different ways. You may feel sad, empty, or hopeless. Maybe you just don't feel much like participating in things anymore, even the activities that you enjoyed most. You may have trouble sleeping, changes in your weight, or unexplained fatigue. Some people even experience frequent thoughts about not being alive anymore. If you are expiencing any of these symptoms and it is interfering with your quality of life, you may benefit from depression treatment.

My approach to depression treatment involves a) learning about the disorder and how it impacts you, 2) creating a plan for small, incremental changes to your thinking patterns and daily routines that fit you best, and 3) maintaining those changes over time so you see continued positive change.

If you have thoughts of harming yourself or others, especially if you have a plan for how to do so, please contact emergency services in your area or dial 911.
